Hotel Silencio del Campo is Winner Traveler`s cohice for 2009 on trip advisor. This hotel have a great Arenal Volcano panoramic view and also have their own hot springs. All little cabins are equiped with Two queen beds size beds, Air conditioning, mini refirgerator, coffee maker, , Private bath with hot water, lamps, wide window to see the garden and Arenal Volcano.
This was our favourite place during our two week trip to Costa Rica. The staff are wonderful - very friendly and helpful. The casitas are very comfortable and spacious and we really enjoyed sitting out on our porch, admiring the spectacular views of Arenal. The hot springs here are wonderful and there was no need to visit others. To come back after a day of activities and soak in the springs with a cocktail was bliss! The hotel is close to La Fortuna where there are plenty of restaurants. The taxi ride costs about $5-6. There are so many pretty birds in the gardens, great to watch. The complimentary facial was a nice extra. The housekeeping are very talented at creating sculptures out of towels! We definitely recommend this hotel.

"Excellent staff, great food, perfect location... already planning a return trip!"by Trip Advisor Reviews (February 28, 2010)
My wife and I just returned from a week in Costa Rica, and unlike most people who spend a few days in different locations, we spent the whole week in the La Fortuna area while staying at Hotel El Silencio Del Campo. I can't say enough good things about our stay. The staff was so friendly and so helpful--I can't wait to go back to see them again (Elios, Vanessa, Johnny, Alejandro, Luis and everyone else!). The food in the restaurant was great (cooked perfectly and SO fresh) and very reasonably priced. Our cabin/bungalow was spotless and comfortable, and the view of the volcano was amazing. Also, each day when we came back, we'd find a new "towel sculpture" including an elephant and a pair of kissing swans--that was very cool. And did I mention how relaxing the hot spring pool was after a day of mountain biking....
I chose this hotel because of its proximity to Arenal/La Fortuna, and because of all of the reviews I read here on Trip Advisor, and I'm happy to say that all of the positive reviews are true.

"Liked it better than Tabacon"by Trip Advisor reviews (February 28, 2010)
We stayed here for part of our honeymoon and loved the rustic and peaceful environment. We also stayed at Tabacon for a couple of nights and definitely preferred the less touristy El Silencio. The staff is very friendly and goes out of their way to make you happy. They gave us a free facial and bottle of champagne when we told them we were on our honeymoon. The rooms were simple, had a cabin-like feel. We enjoyed how private their hot springs pool felt and loved hanging out there while sipping on pina coladas. Breakfast is included and comes with a really nice fruit plate. They stick pieces of bananas on a tree so that you can watch various colorful birds dine while you're eating breakfast. The only drawback was that the wireless didn't reach our rooms and we had to walk outside to get a signal. Of course, that might not be such a bad thing after all. I would also recommend requesting a room farther from the road, the higher the room number, the farther it is from the main road (we were in room 3) and could hear traffic from the street during the day.

"You'll never want to leave"by Trip Advisor reviews (February 26, 2010)
The hotel was beautiful, full of flowers, exotic birds, lovely bungalows, and its own hot spring! The hot spring was the highlight - it has a lovely waterfall and is surrounded by a lounging area and tasteful bar. The volcano is w/in view of the hotel. A sit-down breakfast is included in the price of the room. The staff places bits of fruit on the trees surrounding the restaurant so you will be breakfasting w/ some amazing birds.

There is a definite reason this hotel is rated number 1 in the area...because it is number 1!
The top of this list of reasons is the service. Vanessa was more than helpful throughout our entire booking, arrival, stay and departure process. The staff helps suggest and set up adventure tours, spas, restaurant suggestions. You name it, they are like a personal concierge.
The hotel itself is comprised of about 20 separate villas. Now don't get an idea that they are all that luxurious. They are simple and exactly what you need after a day of adventures in the rain forest.
The breakfast each morning was something to look forward to! And it's included in the rate. Be sure to get the gallo pinto. Wonderful beans and rice, eggs, cheese and homemade tortillas. Yum! We had a few afternoon snacks here too, and they were great.
I would recommend the small spa they have as well. Don't however do the rain forest massage unless you don't mind everyone seeing your business...as it is done out in the open. All of the other treatments are done in the spa villa, and is very secluded. We did one at night after our adventures and it was so peaceful.
The hot spring at the hotel is another of the great amenities of the resort. I heard multiple guests say there was no need to pay the fees by the other area hot springs. That the one at the hotel was good enough.
We enjoyed our stay so much that we are looking forward to the next time we can go!
