Hotel Description
The Arenal ParaiĀso hotel is located just in front of the Arenal volcano only 2 hours and a half from San Jose. The scenic beauty of the area perfectly blends with our exuberant gardens and the singularity of our rooms.
The hotel has a total of 124 rooms of which 74 are superior or suites. These rooms are built entirely in hard wood with all the modern amenities. They have 2 double beds , a comfortable batroom with hot water, cable tv, telephone, a small fridge, air conditioning and also a balcony with rocking chairs to enjoy the view.
We are particularly proud of our communal areas and our 3 pools. The main one is large and crossed by a nice bridge. The second is a hot spring mineral water pool with a wet bar, ideal to relax in, and children can have fun in the small hot spring mineral water pool.

We spent two nights here during our honeymoon and were very pleased. We staid in the one for the superior rooms which is a stand-alone cabin with lots of foliage around, giving it a very secluded feel. Other cabins were actually fairly close, but you don't get that sense. The grounds are very well maintained and the plants and flowers have wooden signs identifying them in both english and spanish which was a nice touch. The property sits between the edge of the jungle and the volcano. The views of the volcano are excellent. The hiking trail through the jungle is great for the adventurous. There are also zip lines, hot springs and a spa on the property. The rooms were very clean for being as rustic as they are - I use the word 'rustic' as in cozy and simple, not rough and camping-like. The room had a refrigerator, safe, air conditioning, comfortable beds and a clean bathroom with good hot water. Our couple's massage was very relaxing and fairly priced - a little less than you'd pay in the U.S. The springs were a treat and not crowded with people like you'd find at the more commercialized springs in the area. Breakfast buffet was included and was very good. Diner was moderately priced and was commensurate with the quality of the food. Town is a short drive down the paved road and there is a grocery store between the resort and town which comes in handy for drinks and snacks when on a budget and not wanting to pay hotel prices. We liked this place so much that we considered modifying our itinerary and staying an extra day, but decided to move on to the beach. We would recommend this place to anyone staying in the La Fortuna area.
